Cult of the Lamb is impressive in its roguelike satanic Animal Crossing mix. A lot is going on in this game and that is honestly one of the best parts about it. From start to finish players will be learning new mechanics and things that make up the game which make the game all the more fun. In all of this, it is easy to get lost sometimes or not understand what the best way to go about the game might be.

To avoid this here are some tips and tricks for every beginner and some players who might be a little more experienced might need to learn. These tips will cover everything from combat, how to use build, and how to run a cult. The only thing it won't cover is how to play the minigames and check every room because players should always check every room in roguelikes.

10 10/10 Learning To Roll

The Lamb Rolling In Cult Of The Lamb

The most effective tool in this game is learning how to roll. This means that players should take some time, especially on higher difficulties, to see how the roll mechanic works. Players should be seeing how far the roll goes. They should also be learning how to use the roll to go into an attack or a curse.

When learning how to roll players should keep in mind that a lot of enemies don't do damage from simply touching them so there is a lot more room for error when rolling toward enemies.

9 9/10 How To Curse Everything Effectively

The Lamb Using A Projectile Curse

Curses in this game work a lot like magical powers that the player only has a set amount of. Players will want to learn what different types of curses do as some are much better than others. Anything with homing capabilities is usually really good as it allows players to stack up big damage.

Some of the sword and scythe attacks can be pretty weak so be careful in getting those. Players should test abilities right away to get a feel for how they work. Always remember that curses with poison tend to do a lot of damage.

8 8/10 Reading The Cards Right

Gift From Below And Weeping Moon Cards

Cards can make or break a run and add to the overall ease that a run through a dungeon has. Understanding how to use all of the cards is as simple as keeping in mind the type of weapon that you have, the time of day, and what is most necessary for a player to succeed in that run.

Depending on the speed or strength of the weapon players might want to build something that does more damage or might be faster. Whenever you get any sort of character or weapon buff get it. Roll damage is killer and poison on later weapon builds can do big damage.

7 7/10 Keeping Cultists Happy 101

Cultists Giving The Lamb Power In The Temple

The way to make sure that your cultists stay happy the longest is by ensuring that players prevent early deaths. The best way to do this is by making sure cultists are fed. Early on players should be trying to find a way to keep their cultists happy and fed as this will help with the overall gathering of resources.

Resources play a crucial role in the city-building aspect of this game so players want to keep everything running smoothly. There are ways to do the opposite, but that would increase the level of difficulty when it comes to trying to keep 20 cultists alive in the end game.

6 6/10 Inner Doctrine Of A Saint Or Satanist

Doctrine Belief In Sacrifice Trait

Doctrine is what allows players to unlock rituals and traits. All players should invest in learning how to use rituals to their benefit. They should also learn what traits they prefer their cultists to have.

If a player wants a run that's about keeping the peace then players should invest in rituals that are going to increase the loyalty of their people. If players want to rule as an evil dictatorial power then they should use rituals that create a stricter presence around the cult in the law and order section.

5 5/10 Some Things Don't Matter

Abilities That Have Not Been Upgraded In Cult Of The Lamb

Players have to learn what's going to matter to them the most because some things are going to not end up mattering. What this means is that to beat the game players don't need to unlock everything. The game does a good job at letting players unlock most of what they need early on but continues to overpower the player for the sake of playability and enjoyment.

Through the game, the player is going to have to learn how to commit to specific skill trees and leave others on the back burner. Focus is key as being all over the place early on can lead to a lot of cult problems in the late game.

4 4/10 Weapons Of Mass Destruction

The Lamb Using The Gauntlets In Darkwood

There are five primary weapons in this game and they are all viable options depending on who's playing the game. Here are the weapons in order from weakest and fastest to slowest and strongest: dagger, gauntlets, sword, axe, and hammer.

Players need to understand cards with weapons as the dagger can end up doing huge damage if combined with some damage buffs and a poison upgrade. The hammer can also do huge damage but is way too slow for some players unless they find cards to increase its speed. There are also a lot of weapon types like vampiric or poison weapons that players can get later on.

3 3/10 Fleeces

All Of The Fleeces Unlocked In Cult Of The Lamb

There are six different fleeces to choose from one of which can be unlocked early on if the player knows what they are doing. Choosing a fleece is going to be highly dependent on players as each fleece comes with both an advantage and a disadvantage.

For example, Fleece of the Glass Canon makes curses deal double the damage but makes it so that weapon damage and health are halved. Players should read through each of the fleeces and see what perks they enjoy most before buying one as unlocking more can get a little difficult.

2 2/10 Building Essentials

A Lot Of Mines And Cemeteries In Cult Of The Lamb

New players need to keep in mind that most buildings with an exception of very few will break forever, need tending, or cost resources to repair. Players need to make sure that they try and build a lot of one thing so that they never have a shortage of something. If they think they need one outhouse then they most likely need three. A farm is the best investment to go along with the player's cooking station as it lets players keep their cultists happy, continue to pray, and continue to work.

Building, like doctrine, is going to heavily depend on how the player wants to run their cult. If they run as evil bishops they should invest in some prisons. As a nice peaceful cult leader, they might want to build funeral stones for their people to grieve.

1 1/10 Becoming An Enemies Best Friend

The Lamb In The Middle Of Anchordeep Room

The most important thing in this game like in any other roguelike is learning the attack patterns of the enemies. If players can learn these then they can master all of the gameplay. This will prevent players from taking as much damage as if they ran in without understanding what the correct move to make would be. The screen is going to be hectic and it sounds weird, but players need to take things slowly.

Slowing movements down for themselves will allow them to think clearly and get out of sticky situations. Players need to keep in mind that if they see a dude with bombs on his back maybe running in might not be the best move because he might also have a dagger.
