Today during the GameStop Expo in Las Vegas, Microsoft showcased some lovely 2D gameplay of indie darling Cuphead by Studio MDHR.

We get to see the overworld, the Ribby and Croaks boss battle through its three phases, a platforming stage and the Hilda Berg boss battle. At the end, we also catch a glimpse of the second map and Baroness von Bon Bon.

We also hear about the difference between "simple" and "regular" difficulty, with the simple one removing some phases from the boss battles.

Interestingly, for now no Xbox One X enhancements have been confirmed for the game, but I guess we'll hear about some time down the line if it'll happen.

As usual, the game looks absolutely charming, as much as it looks crushingly ruthless. Move aside, Dark Souls, Cuphead is here to burn your toes and eat your soul.

You can check out the video below, and if you want to see and learn more about the game, you can enjoy some charming screenshots and artwork, and some more info about the game here, and here. You can also give a look at the rest of the Xbox indie lineup with a recent sizzle reel.

Cuphead will release for Xbox One and PC on September 29th, 2017.
