An avid Mega Man fan has constructed a modded NES to commemorate the character's 25th anniversary. The job took so long in fact, that he lost he track of how many hours he put in to project. He assured his readers that it was indeed hours upon hours upon hours. This was how he described the entire process:

This is a fully functioning NES and an art piece. I made this mod entirely by hand – the cutting, filing, sanding, wiring, soldering, creating the 8-bit Mega Man pixel by pixel where I tried to have a 1/32 ” level of accuracy (which I’ll just say once – took f.o.r.e.v.e.r.), etc. Everything was done with hand tools. No professional cutting, etching, or other machines were used. I lost track of how many hours went into this weeks ago – it was truly a labor of love.

He also mentioned that due to his inexperience with a mod of this complexity, he was forced to develop new techniques and strategies during construction. No, it is not for sale. You can check out a full gallery of the mod below.
