Cyberconnect2 published on November 4 one of its Q&A videos with CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama answering questions from fans, most notably this time answering questions regarding a Dothack remake reboot. Multiple fans would like to see remakes rebooting, or at least remasters, of the first four original Dothack games on PS2, Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarantine.

Back in 2017, the dothack Conglomerate Series from PS2 was remastered on PC and PS4 in a single game with new elements, dotHack//G.U Last Recode. However, the first four games in the series didn't get remasters. Matsuyama said they do want to make remasters for those too, but you should ask Bandai Namco Entertainment because they're the ones making that call, not CyberConnect2.  In summary, Matsuyama explained that Last Recode is selling well, but your best shot would be to promote the game, make it sell even more, and make Bandai Namco see those sale numbers.

Hiroshi Matsuyama explained he understands how DotHack fans, both Japanese and non-Japanese fans, are anxious since whenever they ask about a new game the only answer is "Ask Bandai Namco". Moreover, many fans recently told him they should make a spiritual successor without Bandai Namco and the DotHack brand name. Matsuyama explained he's not against this idea and would like the to it. However, the best scenario would be Bandai Namco giving them the go sign for a new DotHack title.

At the end of the day, if you keep buying CyberConnect2 games and support them, there's still hope more DotHack, reboot or not, will happen one day.
