With the coronavirus outbreak causing studios to have to work from home this could heavily affect the release dates for numerous major titles. It has already happened for The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VRWhile it seems that this will not stop CDProjektRed from their planned release date of September 17 for the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 it appears as though it will still affect the game in a different aspect. In an article from VideoGameChronicle, CDProjektRed's SVP of business development Michal Nowakowski spoke about how the quarantine situation has slowed down the localization process for the game.

“There are some difficulties with the localization process, specifically with recording some of the actors,” Nowakowski said. However, we have managed to record the vast majority of the voice-overs, but there are always some last pick-up sessions, and we’re not very worried about that because that’s something we can record even later and add in the form of a digital patch, so by the moment the customers will actually buy the game in September they would just download a file which would add the missing pieces of recordings, but that process has been hampered a little bit. It’s literally the only thing that’s on our radar, everything else we are either already past that hurdle, so we’re not really impacted by it, or things are progressing smoothly or business as usual I would say.”

So as everything seems it doesn't appear that it's going to be a problem for consumers at launch, however, I am curious as to how it may affect the review process prior to the day 1 patch. Most major titles this generation have come with day 1 patches to fix minor bugs and issues, but missing voice-over work is a new situation as far as I am aware. Will there be voice over that is just missing that is supposed to be there? I wonder if CDProjektRed has at the very least a temporary solution for that. We will just have to wait and see.
