Over the past decade, Polish developer CD Projekt Red has risen to prominence due to the success of its flagship RPG series The Witcher. The studio continues to grow as it works on its next title, Cyberpunk 2077, and today the developer announced that they have opened up a new studio in Wrocław, Poland.

CD Projekt Red Wrocław will work with the other studios in Warsaw and Cracow to create Cyberpunk 2077, the studio's ambitious futuristic RPG. A former Wrocław-based developer named Strange New Things makes up the core of this new studio, bringing 18 developers. Paweł Zawodny, Head of Studio at CD Projekt Red Wrocław, had the following to say about this spearheading the formation of this new studio:

"We’re pretty hyped to be on the spearhead of this new office. We know Wrocław inside out and it’s an amazing place to make games. The team is strong, and I’m sure we have both the experience and the creative firepower to make Cyberpunk 2077 an even better game."

Meanwhile, Adam Kiciński, President and Joint CEO of the CD Projekt Capital Group, commented on expanding into Wrocław:

"Wrocław is one of the biggest and most technologically advanced cities in Poland and a playing field for serious creative talent. I think the scope of our current and future projects, as well as the overall package we’re bringing in, will pull in people who were hesitant to move to Warsaw or Cracow. The founding dev team of CDPR Wrocław is already pretty stellar, but I still can’t wait to see what talents we’ll discover in new people along the way"

Cyberpunk 2077's Game Director Adam Badowski also chimed in, having only good things to say about CD Projekt Red Wrocław:

"Aside from their immense technological knowledge and artistic flair, the core team of CD Projekt Red Wrocław are just great people. CD Projekt Red is not a typical game developer — we put gamers, creative freedom and quality games above making business. These guys not only share this approach, but, much like the rest of the team, think that this attitude is essential to creating epic video games."

While Cyberpunk 2077 does not currently have a release date in sight, DualShockers will be sure to let you know when it is announced for this PC, PS4, and Xbox One title. In other CD Projekt Red news, the studio recently announced that it is working with Bandai Namco Entertainment to make Geralt of Rivia a guest character in SoulCalibur VI.
