Cyberpunk 2077 is less than a year away and it is easily one of the most anticipated games to close out this generation of gaming hardware. After falling in love with The Witcher 3, I can't wait to see how special CD Projekt Red has made this game. Now I am even more excited to hear that you will be able to turn off the UI in the game's Harcore mode.

During an interview with Wccftech, Alvin Liu,the UI coordinator at CDPR, shared some info about the option in Cyberpunk 2077. He stated: "The most fun [difficulty setting] I think will be the Hardcore setting where we turn off the UI you live as well," Liu said. "And that will be a real challenge for a lot of players. Also, at the same time, if you want to play more casually for the story and maybe you’re not experienced with shooters, which was a real big concern for us. We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that. We even have weapons for that. If you recall from last year’s demo, we had a weapon called the smart gun, which helps you aim. The bullets were much slower and usually a bit weaker. But if your aiming isn’t your forte, you can always pick up the smart gun."

In big sprawling RPGs, turning off the HUD is one of the first things I usually do. There is just something so freeing about it and it really heightens the sense of adventure and surprise. This was a big reason I came to love Breath of the Wild so much. Not having any distracting elements on the screen immerses myself and I am sure many other people out their as well.

Now Alvin did state that this was in the hardcore difficulty mode. I am unsure if the "hardcoreness" of the mode only ties to the UI being taken away or if the enemies become stronger as well. I am sure we will find out sooner rather than later but I hope that the option to remove the minimap or UI comes to all of the difficulty settings so all players can experience it.

Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing on April 16, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you want to pre-order the game now, you can do so right here through Amazon.
