Cyberpunk 2077 — How to Find Portal’s GLaDOS in Night City
Night city is crawling with cameos, references, and easter eggs, here's where to find Portal's GLaDOS.
Cyberpunk 2077 has been all over the news for the last few weeks because of developer CD Project Red’s deliberate misrepresentation of the game on the base Xbox One and PS4 consoles. If you’re lucky enough to be experiencing the game in a playable state on a next-gen console or PC, you just might find yourself running into a familiar voice from Aperture Science: GLaDOS.
To clarify, GLaDOS is not in Cyberpunk as the exact same character from the Portal series. However, her voice actress, Ellen McLain, returns as one of the split personalities of Delamain, luxury robotic cab service, and she gives a similar robotic performance right in line with the homicidal AI GLaDOS. Additionally, her mention of surprises and cake while trying to kill the player character V makes it clear that McLain’s appearance is more than an homage. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck and all that.
Here’s how to meet her and complete her quest:
First, you’ll need to have started the multi-layered “Epistrophy” side quest with Delamain. This quest can be accessed after the prologue of the game by simply returning to your car in the garage and letting the events and conversation with Johnny play out. You’ll be instructed to meet with Delamain and he will ask you to help him recover some defective cabs all across the city. This quest won’t be possible if you don’t have a car or bike, so make sure you’ve got one.
GLaDOS is one of the seven defective cabs and her mission is titled “Epistrophy: Coastview.” This mission starts in north Pacifica on the road right along the beach.
Once there, you’ll be instructed to keep close to the defective cab, and you’ll soon discover that it’s none other than GLaDOS as she promptly calls you to make fun of you in classic Portal fashion. She’ll ask you to follow her to “begin the test proper.”
After following her under a bridge, GLaDO-main will stop and try to kill you by calling a handful of gang members to your location. They’ll pull up in a car which can be easily taken care of with a grenade and a few additional rifle rounds.
Once you’re done dealing with the enemies, go back and talk to the defective cab and she’ll agree to head back to Delamain HQ and, boom, you’re done!
