For the unacquainted, Cyberpunk Edgerunners is a spin-off of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077, a popular action role-playing game that came out in 2020. Edgerunners is set in the same universe, but it tells a standalone story of a street kid, David, who's trying to survive in the futuristic world. The second protagonist of the show is Lucy, a Netrunner, who is familiar with the underworld of Night City.

After losing everything and everyone, David decides to become an Edgerunner, a mercenary outlaw, to stay alive. However, the mercenary gig comes with many dangers, and the kid makes several enemies throughout his journey with Lucy.

Like the video game, the anime series will take us to a world where everyone is obsessed with technology. Also, body modification is usual practice for humans to enhance their physical abilities. So, Cyberware will play a crucial role in the anime, and the story will explore how vital body modification is to survive in the Night City.
