During the Nintendo Direct event that was held today, we got a quick, but in-depth look at Daemon X Machina's gameplay modes as well as some customization options we haven't seen before in-game. The trailer opens by giving us some details about the storyline; the moon has fallen and you play as a mercenary in a world where the human race is on the brink of extinction. While the story doesn't seem to be anything too groundbreaking right now, Daemon X Machina appears to be one of the most visually striking games coming to the Switch.

The trailer eventually goes on to start showing us a quick look at mech customization. Enemies you destroy on the battlefield will reap you all sorts of different rewards. These can be used to equip different weapons like swords or guns that'll change the way you play. Surprisingly, we then find out that players will be able to exit their mechs on the battlefield and continue fighting.  It'll be interesting to see how effective players can be outside of their machines versus piloting them. Interestingly enough, there'll be a skill tree that allows you to upgrade your foot soldier that's separate from your mech.

Finally, we get a chance to see cooperative missions where you and four other players will be able to take on a giant boss. Hopefully, these battles will be plentiful as I could see myself spending a lot of time taking down giant bosses with friends. You can check out the Nintendo Direct trailer below as well as an extended look at some gameplay released by Marvelous.

Daemon X Machina will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in 2019. If you'd like to, the game is available for pre-order on Amazon right now.
