Spike Chunsoft announced big celebrations for Danganronpa will be happening for its tenth anniversary in 2020. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, released in Japan on November 25, 2010, gained a sizable fandom worldwide thanks to fan-translations. The game later released in the west. In a nutshell, Danganronpa, written by Kazutaka Kodaka, feature a bunch of “Ultimate” teens stuck together in a play-or-die situation. Monokuma, the franchise’s bear mascot, orchestrates the death games sucking in the characters.

Since then, the four Danganronpa games now sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide. Kazutaka Kodaka was funnily surprised on Twitter his series actually sold this much.  Danganronpa also has anime and manga adaptations. Moreover, it received multiple stage play adaptations in Japan. These highly helped to boost the franchise’s popularity among Japanese women in particular.

Spike Chunsoft will launch multiple projects for the Danganronpa 10th anniversary including new goods and events. The first project is a new tabletop game based on the Werewolf game.

Titled Danganronpa Hajimete no Gakkyū Saiban, it’ll be launching in Japan in early June 2020.

Over on Twitter, many actresses and actors from the stage play shared some happy words.

Goods and collabs with shops will slowly rollout, though there will be less than usual seeing the covid-19 lockdown in Japan.

We’ll learn more about Danganronpa‘s 10th anniversary projects on April 18, during the Dengeki and Famitsu 2019 Game Awards.

Nowadays, Kazutaka Kodaka is at Too Kyo Games. There, he’s working on Death Come True, a game x movie project slated to release this June on most platforms and with a very cheap price tag. He’s also working on Death March Club, and another new IP called Tribe Nine.

All the main Danganronpa games are available on Steam in English.
