In a roundup of comments submitted to Famitsu (translated by Noisy Pixel) to celebrate the new year, Danganronpa developer Spike Chunsoft shed some light on the studio's ongoing plans and revealed that a large-scale project is currently in the works.

Spike Chunsoft released a brief letter to ring in 2023, giving fans an idea of what to expect from the studio this year. Spike Chunsoft teased that a large unannounced game will be revealed at an undisclosed time. The studio teased, "We are also preparing a “large-scale” title that has not yet been announced. We will likely be able to make an announcement in the not-so-distant future. Spike Chunsoft will be running through 2023 like a rabbit, so please continue to give us your support.”

Following the reveal, fans began to speculate that the unannounced title could be a new Danganronpa or Mystery Dungeon game. As the announcement suggests, nothing concrete about this new game has been announced yet. However, Spike Chunsoft has said more details are forthcoming.

As for previously announced titles, Spike Chunsoft is currently working to publish Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, which is due to release for Switch in Spring 2023. The upcoming adventure game is being developed by Too Kyo Games, a studio formed by veteran employees of Spike Chunsoft. In this detective game, players will be able to freely traverse a rainy city gripped by mysteries and will gather evidence to uncover the truth. As players progress in the story, a realm called Mystery Labyrinth will require them to overcome gimmicks and traps to create a way toward the truth. As the blurb reads, "The creators of Danganronpa spent more than five years developing this dark fantasy mystery action game."

Although information about Spike Chunsoft's new game is scarce, we will hopefully know more soon.
