Spike Chunsoft released the debut trailer for Zanki Zero, a new dungeon crawling RPG from the developers of Danganronpa, coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

The trailer show new artwork, that we've enjoyed seeing released so far, and gameplay. The gameplay feature dungeon crawling RPG mechanics where the player will explore a dungeon in the first person and encounter enemies along the way.

Zanki Zero is in development from Danganronpa series producer Yoshinori Terasawa as well as Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair director Takayuki Sugawara. The game is being defined as a “Non-stop last survivor survival RPG,” and will feature the last eight remaining humans on earth after a cataclysm that flooded the planet and destroyed civilization is a single day.

The game will feature a dramatic story and will definitely build upon the first person exploration that players are used to seeing while playing through the Danganronpa series. However, the game will include RPG mechanics for leveling up and customizing characters.

Interestingly, it seems as though the encounters in the dungeons are in real-time and don't require the player to go into a separate screen for battle. This is an element seen mainly in roguelike dungeon crawlers.
