Hibernian Workshop and The Arcade Crew has today announced that Dark Devotion, a sidescrolling action RPG that reflects society’s commitment to a macabre religion, will be heading to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC pretty soon, by all accounts.

The dark atmospheric title received an animated trailer in November last year which showcased the game’s ominous nature, that encapsulates its attempts to secure people’s devotion by making them suffer and sacrifice. DualShockers very own Tomas had a chance to experience the title at last years Indie MIX event during E3 to which he thought the game was "highly atmospheric, but enjoyable game to play".

Dark Devotion started its life as a Kickstarter where it sought out $24,028 in funds for further development, which thankfully it received.

The context of the game revolves around you playing as a Templar, who is confined in a temple and desperately looking for a way out but to do so you need to take on some often bloody and savage brawls against numerous enemies. In its new trailer, we witness how extreme the battles can be that lay waiting as you prove your faith in Dark Devotion’s unforgiving temple. These fights demand flawless reflexes, keen intuition, and an unwavering determination to persevere over an army of godlike adversaries. Only by overcoming these peerless, horrifying warriors can true allegiance to Dark Devotion’s divine designer be proven, a feat well worth unending anguish to the faithful.

The title asks players to adventure with caution as many traps and entities will come down on you like a ton of bricks if you don't have your wits turned on as well as making the right choice when it comes to choosing what weapon you use, as a weak weapon could lead to your demise. Dark Devotion takes inspiration from gothic architecture and from the pages of H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe, so many fans of Dark Souls or Castlevania should enjoy their experience within this title.

Although no dates have been confirmed as yet, Hibernian Workshop and The Arcade Crew have stated that it will be released on Switch, PC and PS4 early 2019 so hopefully within the next few months, but we will keep you updated on this.
