At the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Fanfest in Vegas, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida mentioned that multiple new jobs will be coming in spring 2015 with the first expansion titled Heavensward.
Asked to give a hint about the identity of one of the new jobs, he declined, but mentioned that he wanted to wear a Batman shirt for the event, but was unable to find it. He also specified that his favorite version was Christopher Nolan’s. Batman is also nicknamed Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight is part of Nolan’s trilogy.
While Yoshida-san did not say more, and did not explicitly confirm that the job included would indeed be Dark Knight, the timing of the tease and its context were definitely quite clear.
The game’s community is already buzzing, with discussion on whether the new job will be a tank or a damage dealer, and if tank, whether it’ll be based on Gladiator or Marauder. My money is on a tank based on Gladiator, but I might be just slightly biased on that…
Incidentally, a folder named “Samurai” was also spotted during the livestream on composer Masayoshi Soken’s laptop screen. Take it as you will.
More information is expected at London Fanfest on october 25th.
