The Dark Souls series may have reached its end, but developer FromSoftware might not be done with dark fantasy action RPGs.

A career opportunity ad appeared on Silicon Studio's Agent website publicizing a temporary job for a 2D designer that would work on a 3D action RPG for home console based on a dark fantasy, realistic world view.

The ad does not disclose the name of the employing company, but includes an important hint: the headquarters of the developer are seven minutes from the Sasazuka station on the Keio Line in Tokyo.

I bet you guessed by now, which prominent developer has its own HQ exactly seven minutes from the Sasazuka station; it's indeed FromSoftware, as mentioned on its own website.

I know that quite well, as I had to run those seven minutes myself when I went to FromSoftware's offices for an interview on Bloodborne a while ago. I was almost late, and being late in Japan is bad.

Of course, while the connection is rather solid, this should be considered a rumor until an official announcement is made.

Interestingly, the ad is for a short-term temporary job, which means that it should be for a specific game, probably in a quite advanced development phase. Temporary staffers are normally brought in to increase the output of assets (in this case textures for characters and environments), when a company's own staff can't meet the demand fully.

During our latest interview with Dark Souls Director Hidetaka Miyazaki, he mentioned that one of the games he's working on will "probably comply with the expectations of the fans in a straightforward manner." It's very possible that this is the game he was talking about.
