Today Namco Bandai and From Software announced Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, which will bring the game to current generation consoles.

They also showcased a few screenshots, giving us the chance to make a comparison with the old generation version.

Below you can see the new screenshot (above) compared with two old gen screenshots from the Xbox 360 version portraying the iconic landscape and eternal sunset of Majula.

The improvement in texture resolution and vegetation is rather evident. Lighting also seems to have received a significant upgrade. The current generation version also appears to have lost the depth of field effect, which blurred the background considerably.

For the sake of comparison, below you can also see a screenshot of the same location from the PC version cranked all the way to the max and with the downsampling mod active. This is much closer to the new version of the game, even if differences are still visible, mostly focused on lighting and effects.
