Maxis' next entry into the ill-fated Spore franchise, Darkspore, is now in open beta and available for everyone to play on Steam. An odd top-down multiplayer action RPG where you can collect and customize many a unique hero and use their totally rad abilities in the game, Darkspore actually shows some promise, and if/when I actually have some time, I should be on to see what the hype is about.
