If you haven't played Phoenix Labs' popular co-op Behemoth-hunting action RPG, today may be the day to check it out. The Dauntless 1.0 update is out officially taking the game out of Early Access and in full release mode. Additionally, its Aether Unbound expansion releases today, bringing a slew of new features to the cross-platform game.

The Dauntless 1.0 update is the culmination of years of development and feedback from the game's community. As it has during its Early Access period, Dauntless will continue to expand its world with in-game events and stories. If you want to see what is in store for the game's future, you can take a look at the roadmap.

As mentioned above, today also marks the release of the newest seasonal expansion Aether Unbound. Most notably, this will add the aether strikers to Slayers arsenal. This new weapon is a combo-heavy fist weapon that uses charges your Mantra to use special abilities. Aether Unbound will also add the new Dire Behemoth, Tempestborne Stormclaw, a new Bounty system, and a Hunt Pass.

In the press release, Phoenix Labs CEO and Co-Founder Jesse Houston shares his excitement for the Dauntless 1.0 update, as well as the game's success. "Today is the celebration and culmination of the past five years of development of Dauntless, and the amazing community of Slayers that have supported the game, provided feedback and ultimately helped us craft the experience of the Shattered Isles," says Houston. "As we cross the 1.0 milestone and 15 million players, we as a studio could not be more excited to set our sights on the future of Dauntless."

Dauntless is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC via Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch version is slated to release later this year. Since Dauntless is cross-platform, you can access your account from any of the platforms you wish to play on.
