Freaker on a leash

As you may have heard, there's been a lot of noise over the last few days on social media due to a Days Gone sequel allegedly being turned down by Sony that has got quite a lot of people a little hot under the collar.

When Days Gone released in April 2019, it initially didn't receive high praise from critics due to things like bugs and how it was a little rough around the edges. But the Bend Studio title was a huge hit with fans who fell in love with the post-apocalyptic, open-world game and its story.

Jeff Ross, Ex Game director at Bend Studios, recently took part in a podcast with God of War's David Jaffe on his Gabbin' + Games YouTube channel in which a discussion was had around Sony and, of course, whether the Days Gone 2 rumours were true.

Obviously being under NDA, Ross couldn't confirm or deny the rumours but Twitter certainly spoke up on what they felt regarding the alleged plans for Days Gone 2 being rejected by Sony.

Twitter Reacts

Many fans of Days Gone felt like it was, if true, a terrible call on Sony's behalf to scrap a sequel due to how much there is still left to tell of its story.

Since Days Gone has received plenty of improvements since launch and also an even greater audience, in a climate where survival games are some of the biggest around, the decision to not continue it blew many people's minds.

My Opinion

Many people have their stance on this topic, along with how they feel about Sony in general, but to add in a little of my own personal opinion - I feel pretty sad if the rumours are true and Days Gone doesn't receive the sequel it deserves.

It was hugely misunderstood from the beginning which impacted on sales and I can only imagine how Sony Bend’s veterans could be frustrated as the title is only recently getting the respect it was warranted from the start.

If you haven't played Days Gone yet, I'd highly recommend it and if you'd like to read our review on the game before diving in, you can check that out right here.
