DC Universe Online Beta Impressions - Gameplay

By Tyler Christensen

There really is so much to do and so many different things to see in the DC Universe Online (DCUO) beta. As you saw last week, our Senior Editor Al Zamora spoke about his impressions on the Special Powers and the Character Creation of DCUO. Today I’d like to do the same, so let’s just cut the chit-chat and get to the today’s main topic of gameplay, shall we?

The world of DCUO is vast and there really is so much to be done if you plan on saving or destroying humanity. You’ll leap across rooftops, climb skyscrapers, run with lightning speed and fly through the skies as you complete tasks and quests across the city. The possibilities are truly endless and that is why I can see DCUO being something you can fall in lust with. I had fun flying around or doing parkour moves across rooftops and beating the living ape-crap out of gorillas with my special abilities. Seeing other players online move about the city as their hero or villain was awesome as well.

The game’s controls aren’t overly complicated and as far as the story goes, it’s bringing back a lot of memories growing up wishing that I could fly and have special powers. There is really a lot of fun to be had with DCUO. You’ll fight alongside the best of the best in the DC Universe, characters that we’ve grown to love over the years like Super Man, Batman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, The Joker and many more.

This is going to be quite the list, but if you like exploring and completing quests, earning virtual money and spending it, third-person action video games, MMO’s, super heroes and villains, comic books, RPG’s, competing with other players online, stuff that are epic; then you really have no excuse to not check out DC Universe Online when it releases in 2011.
