Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation’s New Year Events Has Kimono and Miko Outfits for Your Waifus

Christmas disappears quickly in Japanese games, and Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation is no exception. It's already time for a spiffy New Year event.

In the west, people often take a while to remove the Christmas decorations, but in Japan, on the 26th almost everything is already gone. This is due to the fact that Christmas is seen mostly as a consumeristic event and a chance to party and have fun, but the true Holiday is New Year, that has completely different decorations.

This is why, in a lot of Japanese games, Christmas events end immediately after, quickly replaced by much bigger New Year events. This is pretty much what happened with Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation by Koei Tecmo and DMM. Timely like a Seiko watch, the Christmas event disappeared, to make fun for the celebration of the New Year.

This event will run from today until January 10th and comes with pretty juicy bonuses.

The first is the Omikuji Festival. Matches related to the event will drop omikuji (the typical fortune slips you get at Japanese shrines, especially on New Year). Those will be either return a “daikichi” (great blessing), a “chukichi” (medium blessing), or a “shokichi”(small blessing) once gifted to a girl. Luckily, the “misfortune” results that you can often get with actual omikuji are not included in the event. That’s convenient.

The slips you receive from the girls can then be exchanged for various prizes, including a miko outfis (the traditional combo of red hakama and white haori), a hair ornament, an earring, and a wedding omamori (a shrine lucky charm) bracelet.

Three new gacha are also active, featuring SSR kimonos for Kokoro, Kasumi and Marie Rose, while the photo node will feature a New Year set.

Perhaps the juiciest goodie is a weekly login bonus that will provide a SSR Coupon each day and two on the seventh day. The eight coupons can be exchanged for one SSR gacha ticket that will provide a guaranteed SSR costume. This is pretty neat because SSR outfits are what unlocks the girls. If you get one for a waifu you have not unlocked yet, you’ll get her as well.

Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation is currently available for PC. Unfortunately, it’s only in Japanese, but if this does not discourage you, you can check out our handy guide on how to download it and play.
