Upon releasing last year, Dead Cells was immediately met with high critical praise from a variety of outlets around the Internet, including our own. Now, almost a year after launching, the indie roguelike has proven to be just as successful in terms of sales, as well.

As announced by Motion Twin earlier today, Dead Cells has now officially surpassed 2 million units sold. This total is compromised from all of the game's platforms. While this figure may not be as large as some other AAA titles, it's a major success for an indie-developed project. Plus, for it being an entirely new IP, this success is even more impressive.

In addition to revealing this new sales milestone, Motion Twin also divulged that the game's free, new DLC Rise of the Giant is available as of today. For now, this new add-on to Dead Cells is only available on Switch and PS4, but the release of the new content is said to land on Xbox One soon. Rise of the Giant adds a new section of Dead Cells for those who have beat the game previously. It gives you new area to explore in the Cavern, new traps to avoid, and a new boss to fight at the end of the add-on.

Last, but certainly not least if you don't own Dead Cells yet, the game is now currently marked down by 20% on every console platform. If you've been waiting to pick up the game on your own PS4, Switch, or Xbox One, now is probably the best time to grab it.
