Along our journey through the deadly streets of Hell-A, we encounter fascinating characters. We come across areas reminiscent of the memorable atmosphere of Los Angeles and meet one-of-a-kind characters that represent the charming tone of Dead Island 2. While there are so many characters that leave a lasting impression on us, there are several that represent the game's gritty and whimsical nature the best. Without further ado, here are the greatest characters in Dead Island 2.

10 Curtis Sinclair

Curtis Sinclair from Dead Island 2

We encounter Curtis Sinclair early on in the game's campaign. Found at his gorgeous mansion, we help Curtis kill the zombies littering his backyard and inside his home. He's a charming man, wearing a robe with his initials embroidered on the front.

He's quite the character, having a classic personality that would remind anyone of an aging acclaimed actor. Sadly, after we complete his quest, we don't get to see him too often as he's gone to Emma's mansion for refuge from the zombies. But, regardless, he's still a wonderful representation of the more Golden Age of Hollywood side of Hell-A.

9 Rikky X

Rikky X from Dead Island 2

Although we mainly see him through his side quests, Rikky X is an iconic rockstar living in sunny Los Angeles. He was seen in the official extended gameplay trailer for the game before it was released, becoming the first impression of the characters in Dead Island 2 for many of us.

When we first find him, he's incredibly drunk. Funny enough, meeting Rikky is the whimsical break that we all needed after being immersed in the many murderous zombies lurking about. He's comical without even trying, which is why he's easily such a lovable character. With that said, he makes the rockstar life in Hell-A seem like a party.

8 Amanda Styles

Amanda Styles is an upcoming influencer who wishes to record videos of zombies in order to become famous. She's found on the roof of an extravagant influencer house, also referred to as the GOAT Pen.

Her personality is definitely a strong one, and she's not afraid to tell us what she wants. Her side quest, #Clickbait, is one of the most entertaining ones in the game. It sets the tone for the exhilarating side of killing zombies mixed in with upbeat music. Not to mention the entertaining direction Amanda gives us as she records us killing zombies for her audience.

7 Andrea

Andrea from Dead Island 2

This character is the motherly figure of Dead Island 2. She's cautious about who she lets into Emma's home, as she yearns to keep everyone protected from the undead. At first, she doesn't seem to like us one bit due to us being immune and seemingly causing everything to go awry.

But, as we subtly prove to her that we're only striving to help others make it out of Hell-A alive, she warms up to us. All-in-all, it's admirable how much she truly cares about everyone she grows fond of, especially in a world where no one can be trusted.

6 Michael Anders

Michael Anders with Emma next to him (Dead Island 2)

It would be nearly impossible not to care about Michael Anders. He's rather cryptic with us at first, which we can't blame him for since his whole world has been turned upside down by the zombie outbreak. He's overall a meek person who doesn't know how to make it out of this deadly situation alive.

He's Emma's right-hand man, doing nearly everything she asks for. In turn, this makes their bond together the most heartfelt friendship in the entire game. Michael is also one of the first reoccurring characters that we meet, giving us an idea of what the people in Hell-A are like.

5 Patton

Patton from Dead Island 2

Patton is a bit of an oddball. But, at the same time, he's also such an intriguing character that we can't help but be a tad curious about him as a person. He sets the tone for the quirky side of the game, with his behavior being on the interestingly strange side of things.

There's an allure to him that's hard to pinpoint. We find him in his home in the Brentwood Sewers of Los Angeles, his entire home composed of a collection of Emma Jaunt's movies and knick-knacks. When we first meet him, it's clear that there's nothing he likes more than watching Emma's films and playing around with zombies.

4 Lola Konradt

Lola Konradt from Dead Island 2

Being the entrepreneur of high-advanced technology in the game, Lola Konradt is fascinating because of her mysterious nature. Connected with Doctor Reed, Lola seems to understand everything going on in Hell-A a lot more than we do. She's the founder of OSK, a company that produces electronics and software used by nearly the whole world.

Unlike other characters in the game, Lola comes to us in a very unexpected fashion. She finds us in the Brentwood Sewers when we need help the most. From there, her sudden appearance subtly haunts our minds, wondering just who she could be.

3 Reuben Reed

Reuben Reed from Dead Island 2

Reuben Reed is the only sense of medical help for us. He becomes quickly interested in our immunity against the zombies, welcoming us into his safehouse with open arms. Through this, he makes us curious as to why we're so important and how researching us will help the world. But, on the other hand, saving the world sounds appealing enough.

He has a warm personality when we finally meet him face-to-face. We feel beyond cared about when he brings us in, and it's because of this that our Slayer will do anything to help him. In the end, though, we soon learn that maybe there's more than meets the eye with him.

2 Emma Jaunt

Emma Jaunt from Dead Island 2

It's thanks to Emma Jaunt that we got a sense of stability amidst the terrifying outbreak. She plays a major role in getting us fully prepared and is the voice of reason at times. Sadly, we start to lose that connection with her over time because of the tragic impact of the outbreak.

Emma is a beloved actress, having multiple acclaimed films and awards. Her lucky charm is a trophy called a Romero Award, which feels like a nod to director George A. Romero's work on Night of the Living Dead. Throughout the majority of the game, Emma's mansion is used as the HQ for us (and minor characters we meet along the way) to retreat toward.

1 Sam B.

Sam B. and Patton next to him (Dead Island 2)

As an iconic character from the first Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide, Sam B. comes back better than ever. He's an extremely skilled zombie killer, maintaining a cool personality despite everything. Surviving two outbreaks, it's clear that living through Hell-A's outbreak will be a walk in the park for him.

Returning to save his ex-girlfriend, Emma Jaunt, Sam B. arrives in Los Angeles to keep his past beau alive and well. He helps us to get the hang of the intense zombie-filled combat ahead of us. He is also the reason that we find out we're immune. Tying all of this together, it's because of his experiences that Sam B. is the greatest character in Dead Island 2.
