Apart from the main story, Dead Island 2 offers plenty of side content to keep gamers engaged and entertained. This includes various side quests offered by NPCs in the game. Completing these side quests often rewards players with powerful weapons and weapon mods, both of which are crucial if you are looking to cause massive mayhem when facing zombie herds.
Furthermore, completing these activities allows players to progress through the NPCs' storylines, unlocking more quests and rewards. This guide focuses on the side quest Organ Donor, given to you by Trent, who asks you to retrieve a specific organ from a zombie.
Picking Up The Quest
To pick up the quest, visit Trent at Venice Beach. Refer to the image above to easily locate him on your map. He is also in the same fast-travel restaurant. Speak with Trent to learn about some zombie gunk he encountered while cleaning the place. He also suggests that muscular zombies like the Crushers are gunk mines and asks you to track them down and eliminate them for some gunk.
As you complete your conversation with Trent, the Organ Donor side quest will be added to your quest log, along with two new objectives. The objectives are to seek out some Crushers at a nearby strongman competition site and find some gross zombies near the sewage outflow for gross zombie parts. You can complete these objectives in any order you please, but it is recommended to first visit the strongman competition site as it is closest to Trent.
Finding Roid-Soaked Zombies
The strongman competition site can be found slightly to the northwest of the Venice fast travel point. You can refer to the image above to help you locate the site more easily. Once you reach the area, watch for a crusher near some barrels. However, these barrels are non-explosive, so you'll need to rely on your weapons to take out three Crushers in total. Once you've defeated the last Crusher, make sure to pick up the "oversized arm bones" dropped by the Crusher.
Finding Gross Zombies
To find gross zombies, head to the Venice sewers using the image above as a reference. Keep an eye out for burster-type zombies, who will attack you as soon as you approach the sewers. Keep your distance when engaging with these zombies and be mindful of burster traps that are hidden around the corners. Proceed slowly and cross the grated gate, then look for a door to your right to enter the sewers. You'll see that the path ahead is blocked by fire, so turn the crank on the pipes to put it out. While doing so, a zombie will approach you - take it out and continue moving forward.
Once you're in the sewers, turn left and keep going straight while watching out for any buster traps. At the end of the tunnel, you'll encounter a lone buster zombie. Take it out and pick up the blast glands to complete the objective.
Completing The Quest
To complete the quest, return to Trent and inform him that you've successfully taken out the zombies and collected the requested gunk. Trent will commend you on your success, marking the end of your quest. Although there aren't any weapons or weapon mods awarded for completing this quest, you'll receive a new fabrication item - the blast gland and 4,000 XP for your efforts.
Blast glands are incredibly rare items in Dead Island 2, and they are dropped by defeating bursters. When combined with chemicals, they can create powerful explosives that can scatter zombie herds in all directions. So make sure to use them wisely!
