Dead Island Developer Unleashes Hell With New Co-Op Slasher, Hellraid

April 29, 2013

Techland, the developer behind Dead Island and Call of Juarez, have announced Hellraid, their newest first-person co-op slasher.

Hellraid is set in a world where Hell has opened up on Earth, and only a select few warriors are capable of stopping it. The game follows a “Game Master” system, which randomizes loot placement, enemies, and online challenges, making each experience unique for each group of players. Combat will center around first person hack and slash combat, featuring a system of melee, ranged, and magical weapons.

Much like the Dead Island franchise, Hellraid will allow the player to complete the entire story by themselves or with friends (while also competing with them for points, rewards, and fame). Also like Dead Island, exploration, looting, questing, weapon crafting, boss fights, armor customization and more are being emphasized.

Hellraid is set to release to the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360, sometime later this year. Check out the screenshots below, which show off some environments, and some of the hellish creatures you’ll face.
