While this evening's Nintendo Direct was packed with a ton of wild announcements, few could have seen the sheer surprise that came from the reveal that Deadly Premonition 2 is officially on its way next year. As the follow-up to the cult classic horror game, Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is the type of game that fans surely never would have thought was possible, and if that wasn't enough, the original game's mastermind is coming back for its sequel.Following its reveal, Hidetaka Suehiro (or more well-known as "Swery") confirmed that he will be returning to write and direct Deadly Premonition 2. In a statement on Twitter, Suehiro explained that while "roughly 10 years have passed since the original" game in the series was released, the upcoming release of Deadly Premonition 2 is "a miracle" that will give him "a chance to reunite with my best friend -- something I never thought would be possible."While the game isn't coming (for now) until next year, Suehiro added that he will be "working hard day and night while also looking back on the past to make sure this becomes something that doesn't change no matter how much time passes." Specifically, Suehiro stated that he is aiming for Deadly Premonition 2 to be a game that will adapt to the "current era," and described it as an experience that "encompasses all."Though we don't have a ton of other information on the game at the moment, Swery simply said that fans should "get yourself a cup of coffee and wait for it to be completed," even removed from the fact that the game is even happening in the first place.Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise will release for Nintendo Switch in 2020.
