Video game board game adaptations are all the rage, as the board game scene continues its renaissance period. Whether this is Resident Evil 2 or the Dark Souls board game, so much of gaming’s IP is being used to make unique and interesting ideas in the board game space. In a recent announcement, it was revealed that the Deadly Premonition board game (aptly titled Deadly Premonition: The Board Game) would get an exclusive Amazon launch, starting next week.
What is Deadly Premonition: The Board Game? As reported by DualShockers earlier last year, the game is a Kickstarter-backed rendition of Deadly Premonition — a 2010 survival horror game by Hidetaka Suehiro and Rising Star Games that had players take on an FBI case of brutal murders in town. The game had mixed success critically in an incredibly note-worthy way. Guinness World Records dubbed the game “the most critically polarizing survival horror game” ever.
However, in the game’s wake it has received a cult following. Deadly Premonition: The Board Game managed to meet (and surpass) its Kickstarter goal of $50,000 in less than nine hours after launch. The game itself mirrors the video game, where you (and up to three people) work together to try and narrow down suspects in the murder case to find the Raincoat Killer.
As mentioned above, Deadly Premonition: The Board Game is available for pre-order at Amazon, with the game’s purchasing actually opening up on January 31, 2018.
