Death Stranding Director's Cut - New comments from Hideo Kojima translated

On his Japanese Twitter account, Hideo Kojima explained there are several concepts he kept in mind while making the launch trailer of Death Stranding on PS5 and how he's aiming to catch the attention of several different groups of people.

Hideo Kojima: "I made the launch trailer of Death Stranding Director's Cut on PS5 following these concepts, and to catch the attention of the following groups: movie fans who don't know about DS yet. Those who play games but didn't play DS yet. Those who started playing DS but didn't finish it, and lastly making it so those who finished DS like the game even more."

Hideo Kojima added in a quote tweet: "This is the second time we're launching the game, so this is a trailer that conveys in a concise way the game's unique atmosphere, world, and characters".

Back on July 31, Hideo Kojima mentioned on his English Twitter he was almost done editing the launch trailer:

When is the launch trailer coming? Predictions

Several fans, myself included, expect the launch trailer to drop at Gamescom 2021. In particular, at the Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live on August 25, because Hideo Kojima's friend Geoff Keighley is presenting the event. Furthermore, note that Gamescom is the sole big event the trailer could be revealed at. Tokyo Game Show 2021 will only start on September 30, a few weeks after the Director's Cut will be released.

Speaking of Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima organized special talk shows there in 2018 and 2019. Be sure to read our translations of the events. Kojima and Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa also already teased some of their future plans at Kojima Productions.

Death Stranding Director's Cut will be launching on PS5 on September 24, 2021. PS4 players will be able to use their saves to the PS5 version as the game is cross-save. Hideo Kojima also recently mentioned he's not a fan of the name "Director's Cut" for the PS5 version, but it doesn't look like he had a choice in the matter with Sony.
