Death Stranding has long been one of the most anticipated games on the horizon for many around the world, and other than the reveal that the game will in fact arrive later this year, one of the more surprising reveals was that director Nicolas Winding Refn will play part in the upcoming game.

Following today's new trailer for the title, Hideo Kojima shared some new details on the role that Nicolas Winding Refn--known for his films such as Drive and The Neon Demon--will play in Death Stranding, as a character known as "Heartman."

Specifically, Kojima shared that Refn, whom he considers his "bestie," came on board as a special guest at Kojima's request, and that his facial features, body, and head were 3D-scanned into the game. However, like the case with Guillermo del Toro, Refn's character will be acted and voiced by another performer. Kojima's assistant also shared another photo of the two during his session to be scanned for the game back in October 2017.

Death Stranding will be coming exclusively to PS4 on November 8, 2019. If you have yet to pre-order the game, you can do that right now over on Amazon.
