The Precure magical girl anime franchise will be continuing in 2022, with another series, titled Delicious Party Precure.

As usual, as we reach the end of the year, new trademarks from Toei Animation have been made public, revealing the names and logos for the next Precure series before its official reveal.

The usual trademark bot keeping track of trademarking in Japan revealed Toei Animation has trademarked Delicious Party Precure on October 18, 2021. The trademark was made public on November 2.

The next Precure season wasn't officially announced yet, so we don't have characters details or visuals yet. (The artwork above is from Tropical Rouge Precure). However, we'll have some character names soon through merch like the usual transformation toy, before the official announcement.

More on the Purikyua (Pretty Cure) Mahou Shoujo (Magical Girl) franchise

The Precure series started in 2004 with Futari wa Purikyua and ended up becoming a huge hit. It's one of the most lucrative kids and toys-related franchises in Japan. Futari wa Precure is available on Crunchyroll if you wanna discover the series' origin.

A new series has been released every year since, with varying quality when it comes to writing and animation, seeing each series' core staff is different. Delicious Party Precure will be starting next Spring and it'll be the 19th series.

Precure also managed to adapt through the various trends in Japan, most notably by introducing iconic ending animation sequences where the characters are seen dancing and singing in CG. Adapting to the new idol-themed anime boom of the late 2000s.

The latest movie was just released in Japanese theaters on October 23, 2021, as well. Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure: The Snow Princess and the Miraculous Ring.

As a side note, 2022 will also mark the 10th anniversary of Smile Precure. It's the Precure series most people nowadays are accustomed to outside Japan. Seeing it's the first one that was brought over with the truncated, censored version "Glitter Force".

Thankfully, now Precure is finally available in its original form on official streaming platforms, which stopped shunning kids anime. The current series, Tropical Rouge Precure, with Fairouz Ai voicing protagonist Cure Summer, is available on Crunchyroll.

Personally speaking, I'm definitely looking forward to more Precure, while keeping my head out for other kids anime. There is so much out there besides Precure, like Waccha PriMagi, available on HIdive. It's part of the Pretty Series (details here), which has a similar name to Precure but is completely unrelated.
