Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge became widely popular even before its anime adaptation but gained unparalleled popularity after Ufotable brought the world of Kimetsu no Yaiba to life. Demon Slayer topped the list of best-selling manga in 2019 by selling more than twelve million copies, and in 2021, it gained the second spot, losing only to Jujutsu Kaisen by a very small margin.

Demon Slayer is a series with perfectly written characters, whether we talk about its protagonists or its antagonists. The show never fails to give a reasonable justification for their present actions. If a hero is good or a villain is bad, there ought to be a reason for choosing to become what they are today. This makes the fans feel a special connection with the characters and urges them to know more about them. That's why we prepared a detailed list of Demon Slayer characters with their small introduction, age, height, and birthday.

All Demon Slayer Characters

Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer has introduced us to several fascinating characters in the manga and in the first two seasons of Demon Slayer (including the Mugen Train movie). Of course, it's difficult to keep track of every character and what role they play in the story, so here we have a brief description of each main character we've seen in the series so far.

Yoriichi Tsugikuni

Ypriichi Tsugikuni Demon Slayer age height and birthday of all characters

Yoriichi is the legendary Demon Slayer of the Sengoku Era who is known as the inventor of the Breathing Styles and the only user of the Sun Breathing technique. All the other techniques were later developed from it.

Yoriichi was so strong that the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, still gets chills thinking about him to this day. He was able to one-shot Muzan before the latter managed to escape his wrath and never dared to confront him again.

Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro is the main character of the series who joined the Demon Slayer Corps with the main motive of finding a way to turn his Demon-turned-sister back into a human. He swore to kill Muzan Kibutsuji so that no one else had to suffer what he had gone through.

Tanjiro currently uses the Water Breathing style to fight his enemies, but with sheer will and his natural abilities, he masters Sun Breathing later in the series, the most powerful form of Breathing.

Zenitsu Agatsuma

Demon Slayer Zenitsu Agatsuma using Thunder Clap or God Speed while sleeping

Zeniutsu is a timid and fragile young boy who mostly depends on Tanjiro or Inouske when he encounters a Demon. But, once he falls unconscious, that's when the true Zenitsu shines and becomes a menace for the Demons.

He uses the Thunder Breathing fighting style, which he learned from his late master and former Hashira, Jigoro Kuwajima. His incredible techniques, like Thunderclap and Flash and Godspeed have given us some of the most memorable moments in the series.

Inosuke Hashibara

Inouske Hashibara

Meet Inosuke Hashibara, who pretends to be tough from the outside but is actually a sweet teenager who cares a lot for his friends. Inosuke loves to flaunt his strength and wants people to praise and respect him for his abilities.

Inosuke was raised by boars and hones a similar kind of combat style called Beast Breathing. Due to the less time spent with humans as compared to the bores, Inosuke is unfamiliar with normal human interactions and struggles to take people's names correctly.

Giyu Tomioka

Giyu Tomioka

Giyu is an introvert who only speaks when necessary. He acts calmly no matter the situation and doesn't hesitate to break the Demon Slayer Corps' code of conduct if something doesn't feel right. The most notable incident is when Shinobu attempts to kill Nezuko, and he saves her.

Similar to Tanjiro, Giyu is a Water Breather, a Breathing style taught to him by former Water Hashira Sakonji Urokodaki. Giyu tries to keep himself at a distance from others due to the trouble of interacting with others.

Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri Kanroji

The main protagonist of Swordsmith Village Arc, Mitsuri Kanroji, is a cheerful girl who doesn't seem like someone who could even hold a sword. But don't go on her face; she was able to clear the Final Selection in just six months of training.

RELATED: Demon Slayer: Who Is Tengen's Brother?

As she is a Love Hashira and uses the Love Breathing technique, Mitsuri is emotional, compassionate, and loves complimenting people on their uniqueness. But she's completely another person while facing a Demon.

Obanai Iguru

Obanai Iguro

With a snake wrapped around his neck, Obanai was introduced in episode 22 of the Demon Slayer along with several other Hashiras. Obenai Iguru is kind of stoic and keeps high expectations from his comrades. He berated Tengen Uzui after he suffered wounds while fighting Gyutaro.

As evident from his appearance, Obanai uses Serpent Breathing. When he was just twelve, his mouth was cut to his ears to make him look more like a snake, and he covered his face with bandages to hide the scars.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

Sanemi Shinazugawa

He is the elder brother of Genya Shinazugawa, whom we met in the Final Selection of Tanjiro and his friends. He is hot-tempered and stubborn, which is the reason why he lost so many of his loved ones. The only one he shows respect to is Kagaya Ubuyashiki.

Sanemi is the current Wind Hashira and has a craving for intense battles. He wishes to fight the Upper-Rank Demons, especially Kokushibo. Although he never shows it, he is deeply concerned for Genya and lashes at him, so he never becomes a Demon Slayer and stays safe.

Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei Himejima bowing head in prayer in Demon Slayer

He is the strongest known Hashira at present, despite his ability to see. Every other Hashira has a huge respect for him, and he is considered a symbol of hope due to his incredible strength. He doesn't trust people easily but strongly commits to them once he does.

Gyomei is the user of Stone Breathing, the second strongest Breathing form after Sun Breathing. Quite the opposite of his appearance, Gyomei is emotional and easily tears up when he gets emotional. He always carries his prayer beads and often prays in tough situations.

Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro Tokito Demon Slayer age height and birthday of all characters

At the tender age of 14, Muichiro became the youngest Demon Slayer who hones unbelievable swordsmanship, which even came to Upper-Rank One Demon Kokushibo's notice. Surprisingly, Muichiro is also Kukushibo's descendent.

RELATED: Best Anime To Watch On Netflix

Muichiro is a Mist Breathing user and the main protagonist of Swordsmith Village Arc alongside Mitsuri. He carries an indifferent nature toward everyone, resulting from his logical thinking, and he never lets his emotions guide him.

Shinobu Kocho

Shinobu Kocho

Similar to Tanjiro, Shinobu had been a witness to a dark past as she lost her parents at the hands of a Demon. Motivated to save people from Demons' wrath, she joined Demon Slayer Corps alongside her younger sister Kanae Kocho.

Shinobu first appeared in episode 15 of the series, where she maneuvered her great fighting techniques as a result of her mastering Insect Breathing. She has a great bonding with Giyu Tomioka, whom she never leaves a chance to tease.

Tengen Uzui

Tengen Uzui Demon Slayer age height and birthday of all characters

Next on the list, we have our savior from the Entertainment District, Tengen Uzui, whom we know for giving us unforgettable moments from his fight with Gyutaro and Daki. However, we won't be getting any more action from him as he left the Demon Slayer Corps after the fight.

Tengen Uzui, also known as the Sound Hashira, is a flamboyant guy who calls himself the god of Flashiness and festivals. He is easily the most good-looking male character in the series, which makes Gyutaro extremely jealous of him.

Kyujuro Rengoku

Kyojuro Rengoku

After bravely fighting a fierce battle with the Upper-Rank Demon, Akaza, and almost defeating him, Rengoku lost his life, saving Tanjiro and his friends. Despite being offered to join the Demons, Rengoku chose to lose his life as a human and keep the pride of a Hashira.

Rengoku used the Flame Breathing fighting style, which was considered an extremely powerful technique as it resembled Sun Breathing a lot. And given his fighting style and experience, he was considered the strongest Hashira after Gyomei Himejima.

Muzan Kibutsuji

Muzan Kibutsuji getting caught by Tanjiro for the first time

The Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji is the first Demon ever, the strongest one, and the one to create the other Demons. His turning into a Demon was an accident, as it happened while trying to cure his terminal illness.

RELATED: Demon Slayer: How Are Muzan Kibutsuji And Kagaya Ubuyashiki Connected?

For thousands of years, Muzan has been working on the goal of becoming completely eternal and winning over death by conquering the only thing that could kill him, that is, sunlight. Surprisingly, Muzan shares the same bloodline as the Hashira leader Kagaya Ubuyashiki.

Kokushibo

Kokushibo

As spooky as he looks, Kokushibo's strength matches his appearance, as he is the strongest Demon after Muzan. He is the older twin brother of the greatest known Demon Slayer and the only known user of Sun Breathing, Yoriichi Tsugikuni.

Kokushibo maintains silence and only speaks when necessary, but when he does, it's in a very authoritative manner. He demands absolute obedience to Muzan's orders from all his fellow Demons and holds a strong loyalty toward Muzan.

Doma

Doma Demon Slayer age height and birthday of all characters

Doma is the one who offered freedom to Gyutaro and Daki from their misery by offering them to be a part of the Twelve Kizuki. He is the leader of a cult named Eternal Paradise Faith, where he listens to the pain and suffering of his followers but also uses it to capture and kill humans.

On the outside, Doma is friendly, calm, and seems unharmful, but on the inside, he has psychopathic tendencies and takes pleasure in tormenting people. Doma kills and devours the people of his own cult and states that he is freeing them of their sufferings.

Akaza

Akaza

Here's the Upper-Rank Three Demon, Akaza, who everyone remembers for fighting against the Flame Hashira. Not just in his Demon form, Akaza was powerful in his human form as well, as he was a prodigious martial artist by the name of Hakuji.

Akaza is passionate about battles and loves to fight against the strongest Demon Slayers. He loves to extend the battles to enjoy every moment of them and complements his opponents when they use different techniques against him.

Hantengu

Hantengu

The main antagonist of Swordsmith Village Arc has multiple personalities, and each of his personalities has different abilities. His main appearance, Hantengu, is a cowardly man who seems to get frightened by his surroundings very easily.

RELATED: Best Anime To Watch On Crunchyroll

Even in combat, Hantengo is fearful, but one should not mistake him for being a weakling. As an Upper Rank Four Demon, Hantengu is extremely powerful and kills hundreds of innocent people.

Gyokko

Gyokko

Gyokko is a partner in crime of the aforementioned Hantengu in the Swordsmith Village Arc of the series. Before becoming a Demon, he was a human named Managi. Gyokko holds the position of Upper-Rank Five in the Twelve Kizuki.

Gyokko is very sensitive about his art and can't bear it when someone speaks ill about it. Just like other Demons, Gyokko cares the least about human lives and uses their bodies to decorate his art in multiple ways.

Nakime

Nakime playing her four-stringed wooden biwa

Introduced in the finale episode of Demon Slayer season one, Nakime is an Upper Rank Four Demon whose primary work is to summon the other Demons to Infinity Castle on Muzan's orders. She could usually be seen playing her Biwa.

Before becoming a Demon, Nakime was a professional Biwa player who used to kill humans before her performance, as she played Biwa exceptionally well in her anxious state. Once, she chose Muzan as her victim, and the latter offered her to become a Demon, to which she agreed.

Gyutaro

Gyutaro in the middle of a battle

Upper Rank Six Demon, Gyutaro, is one of the main reasons why the Entertainment District Arc was a feast for the eyes. His combat skills, the way he talked, his introduction, and his past, everything helped make Demon Slayer one of the most-watched anime series.

Gyutaro looks weak, but with centuries of combat experience, he has killed fifteen Hashiras and nearly killed the Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui. If it weren't for Tanjiro and his friends, Tengen would have certainly died at the hands of Gyutaro.

Daki

Daki

Daki, similar to Gyutaro, is an Upper Six Demon, but she is less experienced and less strong than her elder brother, as evident from the battle in season one. Both in her Demon and human form, Daki remained extremely beautiful, and she took immense pride in her beauty.

As a human, she lived with her brother in the Rashomon Riverbank, the lowest class of the Entertainment District. Daki had killed and devoured seven Hashira in the past before Zenitsu and Inouske beheaded her.
