Demon Slayer SwordSmith Village Story Arc Explained

So far, Demon Slayer anime followed the manga story arcs in order. And keeping with its usual trend, Ufotable announced that it would animate the 9th story arc from the manga, which is the Swordsmith Village Arc.

In the Demon Slayer manga series, Swordsmith Village Arc begins from Chapter 100 and ends with Chapter 127. The story arc features Tanjiro's adventures in Swordsmith village, which Upper-Rank Five, Gyokko, and Upper-Rank Four, Hantengu, plan to destroy. Tanjiro visits the town to get a new sword, and surprisingly, gets his hands on a 300-year old sword.

Now, Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya Shinazugawa (a fellow member of the Demon Slayer Corps.), and Mitsuri Kanroji, the love Hashira, team up to save the people of the village. Apart from that, the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, will also play a crucial role in defeating the Upper-Rank Five.

It's important to note that Mugen Train Arc had 16 chapters, whereas Entertainment District had 30 chapters in total. And in Season 2 of the anime, both these story arcs took 18 episodes. So, it would be interesting to see how Ufotable plans to adapt 28 chapters of Swordsmith Village Arc for the whole season.

There's also a chance that the studio will extend the season with the tenth story arc, which is the Hashira Training Arc featuring nine chapters. But it's hard to pin on that until we hear something official from Ufotable.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Should Arrive in 2023

Ufotable released the first season of Demon Slayer in 2019, which concluded in September with 26 episodes. Almost a year later in October 2020, the creators released the much-awaited Mugen Train movie in Japan, whereas the second season of the anime premiered in October 2021. So, there was a gap of two years between the first and the second season of Demon Slayer, but with an anime movie arriving midway.

Now, Ufotable has already confirmed that after Entertainment District Arc, the studio would come back for Season 3. Also, there's no confirmation on any anime movie coming out before the following season. So, we can expect the anime to come back after a gap of around 1.5 years, possibly in the first half of 2023.
