It was in June 2016 when Mnemosyne Games' Demoniaca: Everlasting Night was last seen on Kickstarter. Since then, the game has moved into a new stage of development, and the team is now looking for further funding to reach its goal of creating a crossover game between the genres of Castlevania and The King of Fighters in a new genre they are calling Kofvania.

In Demoniaca: Everlasting Night, you play as a young woman who has mysteriously survived the slaughter of her people at the hands of an ancient demon clan with hopes of building a tower to the heavens. Through the events that have allowed her to survive the brutal violence that her body has sustained, her blood has also been imbued with demon's blood, giving her the power to take vengeance on those who have wronged her.

According to Mnemosyne, Demoniaca: Everlasting Night has borrowed Castlevania's dark aesthetic and combined it with classic fighting game mechanics like the ability to chain combos in The King of Fighters. As is expected from the combination of these titles, Demoniaca is a 2D action platformer. The game will also feature a "soft" co-op component.

As for why Demoniaca: Everlasting Night has made its way back to Kickstarter? Project Lead, AKI, explains that the first Kickstarter campaign was enough to create the core game, but with the final production cycle approaching, the team still needs a little more to make the game whole.

"Thanks to the outstanding feedback received from our backers through this amazing year, we finally reached a solid core build for the game, even if our budget was smaller compared to similar productions. After a year of development and with our final production cycle coming along, we decided to reach out even further in order to make Demoniaca even better. This is why we are now looking for a second stage of funding to help us in delivering the best game we can possibly make. With your support, we will expand Demoniaca into an even bigger, better and bolder experience."

In its original Kickstarter campaign, Mnemosyne had asked for €15,000 (about $17,500). In this new campaign, the team is looking for €30,000 (about $35,000).

Demoniaca: Everlasting Night is expected to release for PC, Mac, and Linux. For more information on Demoniaca: Everlasting Night, you can visit the game's new Kickstarter page. You can also see a trailer for the game below.
