Demon’s Souls Remake First Screenshots Look Freaking Incredible

I cannot stop thinking about Demon's Souls. Help.

There were a lot of dope games that were revealed in yesterday’s PS5 stream. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles MoralesHorizon: Forbidden West, and Resident Evil Village were some of my personal favorites, but surprisingly, the one reveal that I cannot stop thinking about is the one that just happens to be a remake from a game that released back in 2009.

Yes, Bluepoint’s new iteration of the FromSoftware classic Demon’s Souls is the one PS5 title that has dug its way into my brain unlike any other over the past 24 hours. Part of this is likely amplified by the fact that I’ve actually never even played all of Demon’s Souls. Despite dabbling with it for a few hours nearly a decade back, it remains the one FromSoftware-developed Soulslike that I’ve never seen through to completion.

The other thing that I just cannot shake though is how incredible this game looks. If you somehow weren’t impressed by the reveal trailer itself, Sony later ended up releasing a slate of screenshots and as the legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross would say, “BAH GAWD!” Bluepoint has always been masterful when it comes to remastering and remaking games from the past, but Demon’s Souls looks like a whole different beast entirely.

Are you somehow still not sold? Just look at this wonderful Twitter thread courtesy of user @illusorywall which shows the new screenshots from the Demon’s Souls remake compared to those same locations from the original. The difference isn’t just night and day in terms of graphical prowess, but the level of detail in each environment has shot through the roof.

I full well identify as a FromSoftware and Soulslike shill at this point in my life, but even I am surprised by how fantastic Demon’s Souls looks on PS5. There still isn’t a whole lot that we’ve seen of the remake all things considered, but I cannot wait to see more of it in the coming months.

Demon’s Souls (sadly) doesn’t have a release window just yet but it’s slated to come exclusively to PS5. You can check out the full gallery of images from the remake down below if you haven’t seen them already.
