Desperados 3 Uses Tabletop Miniatures to Make the Best Trailer You’ll See All Day

Desperados 3 goes analog for the latest trailer for THQ Nordic and Mimimi Games' upcoming tactical stealth game.

Desperados 3 is an upcoming tactical stealth game from THQ Nordic and Mimimi Games. The game features challenging, sandbox fights and fun characters. What it doesn’t feature is the type of miniatures you would see in a Wild West Dungeons and Dragons session. That said, the game’s latest trailer uses those exact things to great effect. Check it out below.

I know exactly what you’re thinking. Is this a mode in the game? Can you play the entire thing in stop motion? Most likely no. You have to imagine that would take an ungodly amount of work to make happen for what would mostly be a laugh. That said, a boy can dream.

Either way, Desperados 3 continues to look like the perfect prequel for the Desperados universe. You’ll join up with members of your gang as you navigate through each environment. The options you have at your disposal make for some truly engaging gameplay. Careful planning is almost always more successful than going in guns blazing, though that is always an option.

Desperados 3 features five different playable characters, each with their own unique set of skills. From a gigantic bear trap to the powers of attraction, you’ll have countless ways to approach each scenario. Plus, when things get really hairy, you can always turn on Showdown mode. This lets you plan out attacks while paused, ensuring that your squad can coordinate attacks with pinpoint precision.

Desperados 3 launches for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 16.  It’s well worth a look if you’re a fan of games like XCOM or Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.
