Originally slated to arrive in September, Bungie has today announced that the latest expansion for Destiny 2 needs a bit more time in the oven.

Divulged over on Bungie's website today via a new blog post, Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now slated to release almost two months after its initial date and will now arrive on November 10. As for the reason behind the delay, Bungie essentially said that working from home in light of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the primary culprit.

"The past few months have been a challenge and will continue to be during this pandemic. We’ve learned to create together in a new way, by having to work apart from one another," Bungie said in the blog post. "Despite these hurdles, we’re still committed to the same level of quality that our fans expect."

While Destiny 2: Beyond Light is in some ways just another expansion for the base game, it also represents a major change with what Bungie wants to do in the title moving forward. As such, the studio says it's trying to ensure that it really gets things right. "As always, our goal is to make the coolest, most entertaining expansion we can possibly make for our fans," Bungie said today. "To that end, we are doing what’s best for the game and moving the launch date."

Even though delays are often a bummer, there is still more than enough to do within Destiny 2 as it stands right now to keep current players busy. And if you're someone who has lapsed on the game in recent months or years and is looking to jump back in before Beyond Light, at least you now have a bit more time to do so.

Destiny 2 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. It will also be coming to both next-gen platforms in the Xbox Series X and PS5 later this year.
