With the promise of a brand new expansion on the way this fall, Destiny 2 players that may not have played the game in some time might worry about the amount of catching up they need to do in order to play the expansion, but fear not: Bungie is making things a little easier, thanks to a character boost.

In a report from Mashable, Bungie game director Chris Barrett gave a few more insights into the upcoming Destiny 2: Forsaken, which is the game's next major expansion expected to arrive for consoles and PC this fall.

Specifically, Barrett explained that Destiny 2: Forsaken will provide a level boost for one character, which will allow players to instantly jump up to the game's level cap and to experience the new content waiting in the Forsaken expansion right away.

While a level boost has been integrated in past expansions for Destiny (such as the "Spark of Light" item), Barrett explained that this time around, the level boost will be available right from the game's character select screen, allowing players to create a new character that can instantly access the new content in Forsaken.

In addition to bumping up a character's level, the boost itself will also complete all relevant activities and missions needed in order to hop into Forsaken, and that the boost will leave players "at the point in the game where you'd be starting the Forsaken campaign [if you use the boost]."

According to Barrett, every purchase of Forsaken will include one free character boost per player, while additional character boosts can also be purchased if they would like to bump up any extra characters to play the expansion.

Destiny 2 is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and the upcoming Forsaken expansion will release on September 4th, 2018. If you have yet to pick up the game, you can grab it for consoles or PC via Amazon.
