Destiny 2 Confirmed to be Coming to Google Stadia in Founder’s Edition
Google Stadia has netted another major third party game in Bungie's Destiny 2, confirming yesterday's rumors.
As the first ever Stadia Connect livestream goes on, Google are making some interesting announcements regarding games coming to the platforms. While avid gamers will be pleased to know that new titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 are coming to the system, some ports are also in the pipeline like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Doom Eternal. During Stadia Connect, Bungie announced that Destiny 2 will be available on Google Stadia.
This will make Google Stadia the fourth platform Destiny 2 hits following PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It is certainly a major title that is beneficial for Google to have on their platform, though Destiny 2 will be a true test in seeing how well Google Stadia can handle games with competitive multiplayer. While not as frantic as something like Call of Duty, precision and minimal latency are key to a game like this working well and that’s harder to do on a game streaming platform. Hopefully, Google Stadia will deliver.
This announcement is probably pleasing to fans of the Destiny series, though they may have already heard about it via Kotaku’s report yesterday on both the port and cross-saving. Cross-saving is a feature that will apparently work between PC, Xbox One, and Google Stadia and be delved into by Bungie more later today. In less than an hour, Bungie will be holding a livestream to discuss the future of Destiny 2 following their split from Activision in January. Outside of touching on the Google Stadia port and cross-saves, the livestream will probably discuss the Shadowkeep expansion that was teased during Stadia Connect and possibly confirm rumors of the game going free-to-play.
Stay tuned to DualShockers to learn more about the other announcements from Stadia Connect. Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One and is coming to Google Stadia.
