Primary weapons in Destiny 2 will have better effectiveness while shooting in the airborne state, as Bungie decreases the penalty for airborne accuracy and aim-assist in the upcoming weapon tuning update.

Today is Thursday, and Destiny 2 fans already know they have a blog post to read over at Bungie's official webpage. In this week's TWAB post, Bungie revealed some of the upcoming changes to primary weapons. The plan includes significant buff for all weapons for aiming and shooting while in the air.

Affecting both PvE and PvP modes, Bungie admits that these changes will shift the meta in Crucible and other competitive modes, however, the development team is confident about the weapon tuning, and believes that it won't be followed by a nerf soon after going live.

Below, you can check out the patch preview for upcoming weapon changes:

Buffs

  • Airborne Effectiveness:
    • Improved baseline airborne accuracy and aim-assist for all Primary weapons.
    • Added a static airborne effectiveness buff to some existing perks.
    • Raised the base AE stat on several Exotic weapons.
  • Tuned up some underperforming Primary weapon subfamilies in PvP.
  • Increased pellet Shotgun damage in PvE.
  • Increased ammo per Special brick for Glaives, Forerunner and Eriana's Vow in PvP.
  • Linear Fusion Rifles no longer receive increased flinch in PvE (will still receive increased flinch in PvP).

Nerfs

  • Tuned down some overperforming Exotics in PvP.

The notes above showcase the summarized version of the changes coming to the weapons. If you want to read through all the details and statistics, we suggest you visit this link and check out all the deets for mid-season weapon tuning in Destiny 2.

Currently, there is no official release date for the changes above, but you can expect them all to go live a month or so prior to the launch of Season 18.

When we are closer to launch, Bungie will share more in-depth changes about the weapon tuning, but even with the current data, you can probably guess what you are going to need for competitive matches when the aforementioned changes go live.

Aside from weapon tuning, this week's TWAB also revealed the return of Grandmaster Nightfall activity, which will be available from July 5 at the weekly reset time.
