Bungie revealed this morning that Destiny 2 is set to come to Google Stadia later in the year and soon after, in its own live stream hosted by Bungie, further unveiled the full scope of what the future of the game will involve. Bungie detailed quite a bit of information ranging from a new expansion, a free-to-play version of the game, and further info on the game's PC version, and cross saves.

Here are all of the biggest announcements to come about during Bungie's Destiny 2 stream.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

Shadowkeep is the name of the latest expansion for Destiny 2 and it will take players back to the moon. Information on Shadowkeep leaked earlier this week and those leaks proved to be very accurate. Shadowkeep is set to arrive on September 17, 2019, and will be the game's first expansion since Bungie separated from Activision. If you pick up Shadowkeep, which is going to cost you $35, you'll also gain access to all other season content that will come afterward.

Furthermore, if you don't want to buy Shadowkeep, then you need not fret. Shadowkeep will be entirely standalone from the larger Destiny 2 experience and with the game's new structure. You won't be forced to buy the expansion in order to continue getting new content. This plays into the next major change to Destiny 2 which is...

Destiny 2: New Light

Destiny 2 is now officially going free-to-play in a new iteration of the game that is being called New Light. Those who jump into New Light will be able to get a baseline Destiny 2 experience for free and will then be able to choose from there which additional content they might like to purchase. This will finally allow players who have been looking to get into Destiny 2 the opportunity to try the game out for themselves and then purchase expansions like Shadowkeep or Forsaken later on if that's something that they'd like.

New Light will also be available on all of Destiny 2's platforms when it arrives.

Cross Saves for All Platforms

For those who aren't looking to get into Destiny 2 for the first time and are instead long-standing players, the advent of cross saves in the game is likely one of the biggest new features. Contrary to previous rumors, cross saves will soon be available for all platforms for Destiny 2, including that of the PS4. This will finally allow players to jump freely between platforms without losing their character progress in the process. Furthermore, this added feature will allow those who have been wanting to play Destiny 2 together with one another but have accounts on different platforms to finally migrate somewhere else.

Personally speaking, this is perhaps the most exciting announcement of all that Bungie made today and I'm really looking forward to unifying on a single platform with some of my pals who play Destiny once again.

Steam Release for PC Incoming

In the fallout of the divorce with Activision, Bungie has been in search of a new home for Destiny 2 on PC. The game was previously available through Battle.net but since splitting off to go independent, a new PC marketplace has been needed. Luckily, that new home is coming very soon as Destiny 2 will be migrating to Valve's Steam platform.

Steam will be the new provider of Destiny 2 on PC starting later this year. Considering it's probably the most desired PC launcher for many, this news should surely appease those who are looking to have the game appear in their already expansive Steam libraries.
