Destiny’s Sparrow Racing and Strike Scoring Set to Become Permanent Features
During PlayStation Experience 2016, publisher Activision announced that a new holiday update for Destiny: Rise of Iron, called The Dawning, is coming on December 13th, and it will bring back the Sparrow Racing League event alongside a host of other themed events and game modes
Now, developer Bungie has revealed that when The Dawning update ends on January 3rd, Sparrow Racing and Strike Scoring will not go with it, and rather will become permanent features.
Sparrow Racing will live on via private match options. This means you will be able to not only play with Destiny buddies that you recruited because your real friends are garbage, but will able to set your own racing tourneys. If you’re a Destiny player who owns Rise of Iron you will have access to all four courses. If you only own The Taken King — then, well Bungie doesn’t love you as much — you will only have access to two maps (the one’s that were available last year).
Further, the newly announced Strike Scoring mode will also remain in the game after The Dawning event concludes. For those who don’t know: this new mode allows players to rack up a high score when playing through strikes. Essentially, it’s a way to keep players coming back for more and more in attempt to top their highscore. Classic gameplay loop stuff.

In other news, during Activision Blizzard’s financial conference call related to the quarter that ended on September 30th, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg talked more about the upcoming Destiny sequel, which will supposedly arrive in 2017, saying it will be an “awesome sequel” and use a “smart approach” for additional content.
