Yesterday's PS5 reveal event was packed with exciting new games from some of the biggest franchises in the industry. However, there were several smaller games like Destruction AllStars shown off as well. The car combat game is being made by Lucid Games (the team behind Geometry Wars 3) and looks like it has quite a bit of potential. Give the reveal trailer a watch below if you missed it.

Destruction AllStars looks a bit like a modern-day Twisted Metal. Just with much brighter colors and a wacky tone. Both games provide car-based carnage in spades. And Lucid Games' latest doesn't just keep the battle behind the wheel. Once your car is fully demolished, you can hop out and try to fight other competitors.

Thus far, we don't know if there's a way to get back in a vehicle after yours is turned to scrap. However, we do see an on-foot fighter jumping on top of and wrecking another car. So, even if you can't carjack your opponents, you'll still be a major obstacle to their victory.

Speaking of obstacles, it looks like the course will also be fighting back. The trailer shows off a spinning fan that obliterates a car. You can easily imagine a BattleBots-like arena with spikes, flames, and more.

We don't yet have a firm release date for Destruction AllStars. However, it stands to reason that Lucid Games is aiming for an early PS5 launch. As I've mentioned before, people are going to want games to play on their shiny new system. If you can put out a fun car combat game in the system's early days, you might have a sleeper hit on your hands.
