Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo Finally Hits the 3DS eShop in Japan

Nearly three years ago, footage was shown of a game in development simply known as “Detective Pikachu”. The game was a far cry from anything Pokemon-related in the past, featuring motion capture and a talking Pikachu. Any official word on the game was completely silent following that, until today, when the game not only resurfaced, but is ready for release!

Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo is billed as a “cinematic adventure” game for the 3DS. Players team up with the titular Pokemon to solve mysteries and investigate their city. Available on February 3, 2016 the game is available now for a pre-order price of 1200 yen.

You can see the utterly bizarre footage for yourself below:

There is currently no word on this game getting a release anywhere outside of Japan in the foreseeable future.
