PopCap has released a new developer diary video for its much anticipated and still delayed sequel, Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time.
The game was headed for a July 18th release before PopCap announced a last-minute delay to ‘later in the summer’.
While the developer never explained why the game was delayed, senior producer Allen Murray assured fans the extra time was required for focus testing. Maybe, judging by the video diary, this is what PopCap could have been testing.
As explained in the video below, Plants vs. Zombies 2 includes a world map, a first for the series, in which the player can progress through three eras: ancient Egypt, the age of piracy, and the wild west.
The game also adds a Plant Food mechanic, to give your plants a limited-use power-up for emergencies. This allowed the developers to bring the iconic plants back from the original while still making them feel new and improved.
Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time will launch on iOS this summer.
