Devil May Cry’s official Twitter today announced that game that started it all is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Devil May Cry is the first entry in the self-named series where you play as Dante, a devil hunter. Dante is known for shooting and slashing his enemies with absolute style.

The first DMC originally released back in 2001 on the PlayStation 2. The series later received a collection of Devil May Cry, 2 and 3 that arrived on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The game is set out to release sometime this summer, but no specific release date has been announced.

The Devil May Cry series originally brought its own take on the “hack n slash” genre which later inspired other game series like Bayonetta. Since the original Devil May Cry, there have been five additional entries in the series including the latest Devil May Cry 5, which just launched earlier this year.

Capcom is likely testing the waters to see how much the series is wanted on the platform. If you want more of Devil May Cry on the Nintendo Switch, it would probably be the best idea to support this upcoming release. It will also help time pass while waiting for the release of Bayonetta 3.

Devil May Cry is considered one of the better installments of the series. For those who have yet to play a game in the franchise, this is a great starting point.
