I'm sure you've said to yourself, "I'll play that game when it goes on sale." Even then, we may not actually pull the trigger and purchase the game. However, have you ever tried to contact a publisher to ask if they could put a specific game on sale? I know I haven't but someone had the brilliant idea to do just that.As seen in a tweet from Devolver Digital's Twitter profile, a "potential future purchaser" wanted to play Shadow Warrior 2. So much so, he emailed the publisher asking if the publisher could put the game on sale. As any great company would, they made the moment right. "Sure thing, boss," Devolver Digital replied, "You've got one hour." There was a link provided so the buyer could easily make his purchase.  Here is the full tweet:

This was no mere discount either. Shadow Warrior 2 was 75% off its original price. As seen in the above, that brought it down to $10; that's $29.99 down from its $39.99 price. Unfortunately, that hour is up and it is back to its original price.

Many Twitter users replied to Devolver Digital's post either showing screenshots of their purchase or making some witty comment. Personally, I share the same sentiment as Twitter user @MC_Odd where he says, "my condolences for what your inbox will become after the hordes see this." I mean, why wouldn't you try getting some game discounted yourself? If one person did it, anyone can, right?

As such, since Devolver Digital is taking sale requests, here are a few games I would like to see discounted on Steam:

  • The Talos Principle
  • Gris
  • The Red Strings Club
  • Strafe
  • Shadow Warrior

Joking aside, there are plenty of titles from Devolver Digital's library that is discounted as of this writing. Great games like Hotline Miami, Enter the Gungeon, Minit, and my personal favorite game of 2018, The Messenger, are all 40% to 75% off.

So, what is the lesson to be learned here? Is there a lesson at all? Probably not but I think it is safe to say that if you want something, it never hurts to ask.
