If you were one of the fans annoyed by the announcement of Diablo Immortal this past weekend, then this probably isn't going to make you any happier. According to Kotaku, Blizzard was originally going to announce that Diablo 4 was in development at the studio this past weekend during BlizzCon, but cut the announcement at the last minute.

According to the sources, no footage of the game was going to be revealed. Instead, the announcement would simply feature Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham telling the crowd about the game in a video which would play at the end of the keynote. This was apparently the plan up until a week or so ago, however, the studio decided to pull it due to the fact that they aren't "ready to commit to an announcement."

Of course, this is just a report, so it's always important to take it with a grain of salt. However, this wouldn't really come as much of a shock, as fans have been clamoring for a new entry for a while now. Plus, Blizzard basically spelled out for themselves a few weeks back that there were multiple Diablo projects in the works.

While it may not appeal to everyone, Diablo Immortal, a new mobile game, was announced, so fans will have something to hold themselves over until the next main entry.

While no official announcement has been made, Diablo 4 is rumored to be in development for PC.

UPDATE: Blizzard is now disputing the fact that this Diablo 4 video was going to be shown off at BlizzCon. In a new statement to Kotaku, Blizzard states that no announcements were pulled from BlizzCon this year and that the company is listening to the Diablo fan community and will announce other Diablo projects "when the time is right". That being said, Kotaku's source were able to confirm that the video has been recorded and that Diablo 4 is in active development

You can check out Blizzard's full statement regarding this Diablo 4 report below:

"First off we want to mention that we definitely hear our community. We generally don’t comment on rumors or speculation, but we can say that we didn’t pull any announcements from BlizzCon this year or have plans for other announcements. We do continue to have different teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects, and we look forward to announcing when the time is right."
