Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away just over a year ago, which has people really wondering did Chadwick Boseman voice Black Panther in any other media before his passing.

Boseman was already a very well respected actor for roles like Jackie Robinson in 42 and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, but nothing reached the level of T'Challa, aka Black Panther in the titular film and other MCU films.

While it has been confirmed that the live-action version of T'Challa will not be recast in the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the character is a part of the new animated Marvel's What If? series on Disney Plus. This will definitely leave people wondering just who is voicing him in this episode and beyond.

Does Chadwick Boseman Voice Black Panther/T'Challa?

Marvel's What If? is the latest Marvel Studios series on Disney Plus following Wandavision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. Rather than being live-action though, this series is animated and features different what-if scenarios from the MCU.

After the events of Loki, Marvel's What If? is actually canon due to the multiverse, such as us being introduced to Captain Carter in last week's episode.

This latest episode changes T'Challa's story entirely, as Yondu and the Ravagers take him as a child rather than Peter Quill. This leads to T'Challa actually becoming Star-Lord as well, which we are slated to see in multiple episodes.

While watching the episode you likely will ask yourself did Chadwick Boseman voice Black Panther/T'Challa, or in this case Star-Lord/T'challa, due to how much he sounds like him. You may think that wouldn't be possible considering he passed away nearly a year ago, but it is in fact Boseman voicing the role.

Unbeknownst to most everyone, Boseman was sadly facing colon cancer for years while still acting. At some point prior to his death, however, he recorded lines for Marvel's What If? series in the role of T'Challa for the very last time. In fact, it's not just this one episode either but confirmed by a producer to be four total episodes.

Losing someone so exceptionally talented at such a young age considering is tragic, but at least he left behind a legacy of films for people to enjoy. Following up on his stellar role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom that led to him winning multiple posthumous awards, Marvel's What If? will be his final role after his four-episode run this season.
