While Polish developer Monster Couch announced their Viking-focused beat 'em up Die for Valhalla! over a year ago, the game only had a vague Q2 2018 release window. Today, the indie developer released a new trailer and turned that release window into a release date, confirming that Die for Valhalla! will be coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 29.

On the surface level, Die for Valhalla! is a co-op focused beat 'em up roguelike that evokes memories of games like Castle Crashers. There are seven different Viking classes for players to control, each of which has their own weapons and combos. Dying doesn't mean an immediate game over though. Once a player dies, their Valkyrie will become exposed, and can go possess the grave of other Vikings or objects within the world in order to fight back.

I had the opportunity to try out the game last year when I visited Poland for Poznan Game Arena and GIC. Die for Valhalla! is chaotic in a good way, which makes it all the more fun to play with others. If you like games like Golden Axe or Castle Crashers, you should probably keep your eye on this one. It's also pretty fun to possess a bush, which you can do.
